As the year-end holiday season approached, our group of friends decided to take a break from the routine and plan a getaway to Upstate New York. It was a much-needed breather for all of us, and with a group of nearly 25 people—including families and kids—it turned into an unforgettable adventure. Here's how our amazing four-day trip unfolded:

Day 1: Kicking Off the Fun

The trip planning was a masterpiece, thanks to the meticulous efforts of the ladies in our group. They booked a spacious house to accommodate all of us, chalked out activities, prepared menus, and even organized dress codes to keep things lively.

By the time we all arrived in the evening, the mood was electric. Snacks and a variety of delicious dishes set the tone for the night, complemented by an assortment of wines. The kids dove into their entertainment—singing, playing snooker, cards, and karaoke, filling the house with laughter.

The evening became extra special as we celebrated two birthdays—Kavitha Y’s and little Aryansh’s—with cake, music, and cheer. A fun fact about the trip: we had three ladies named Kavitha in our group (including my wife), which led to many amusing moments of confusion whenever someone called for "Kavitha."

Day 2: Snow Tubing, Snacks, and a Late-Night Biryani

The ladies took the lead the next morning, treating us to a refreshing breakfast and tea. They planned an outing for snow tubing at a nearby resort, but unfortunately, I had to stay back as my son was feeling unwell.

While I missed the action, I heard plenty of exciting tales about the fun they had. To make up for my absence, I prepared chicken drumsticks for the gang’s return. Kavitha Y and Devi Garu joined me in the kitchen to whip up a snack using poha, complementing the drumsticks perfectly.

Later in the evening, dinner became the highlight as we set out to cook a special biryani. Finding the right spices took a couple of shopping trips, but the effort was worth it. The biryani turned out to be a showstopper, served late into the night alongside some refreshing drinks. The day ended on a high note, with everyone enjoying the meal and the camaraderie.

Day 3: Museums, Waterfalls, and Christmas Cheer

The next day started on a rough note for me as I woke up with a bad cold and cough. However, that didn’t dampen my spirits. After a hearty breakfast, the group split into two—one group headed to the Glass Museum in Corning, NY, while the others explored nearby waterfalls.

I accompanied the kids to the museum, and it was a fascinating experience. We learned about the history of glassmaking, watched live demonstrations, and admired stunning glass art. By the time we returned home, I was exhausted and needed a quick nap.

While I rested, the rest of the gang got into the holiday spirit, indulging in some quirky Christmas celebrations. Later in the evening, Viswa, Vijay, and Narendra prepared a delicious chicken curry, which was a hit. Post-dinner, we enjoyed a lively session of dumb charades while the kids kept themselves entertained with karaoke and games. Despite a brief office call, I managed to rejoin the fun and ended the night with laughter and joy.

Day 4: Wrapping Up with a Smile

The final day began with a flurry of activity as we packed our belongings and prepared to check out. Everyone pitched in to ensure the house was left in pristine condition. We shared a hearty breakfast, packed snacks for the journey back, and said our goodbyes with hugs and smiles.

The trip, filled with laughter, delicious food, and memorable activities, was truly one for the books. It was our first extended outing with friends, and it left us with beautiful memories to cherish. A big thanks to everyone for making this holiday season so special!

This trip reminded me of the joy that comes from shared experiences and teamwork. From meticulous planning to spontaneous celebrations, every moment added a unique charm. Here’s to more such adventures in the future!
